The Warther Family in 1890

Godfrey and Anna Warther migrated to Dover, Ohio from Switzerland in 1883. Five years later Godfrey died at the age of 44 leaving Anna with 5 kids, a cow and 20 cents.

This photo was taken in 1890 of Anna and her 5 children. Ernest, age 5,  is seated on the far right.

The New Warther Museum

The Warther family can trace carving back to Ernest's grandfather who was a wood carver in Switzerland in the mid 1800's.

Here in America the Warther brothers began carving and knife making in the early 1900's. Today both carving and knife making continue in the Warther family.
